WHAT: Center for Domestic Peace (C4DP) is offering a VIRTUAL 40-Hour Domestic Violence Advocate training. Training attendees learn practical, hands-on skills that will enable them to:
- Describe the problem of dating and domestic violence and discover solutions.
- Assist survivors and abusers seeking to free themselves from domestic violence.
- Understand the barriers that survivors face when trying to get help.
- Understand how culture shapes each individual’s experience.
- Imagine and participate in transforming society’s norms from domestic violence to healthy and equal relating.
You will also learn the history of the Battered Women’s Justice Movement, the intersectionality with other social justice movements, why victims stay, hope for abusers and more!

DETAILS: The training fee is $250. There is a reduced rate offered for domestic violence shelter employees and for current high school and undergraduate students. Registration is due by 5PM on January 3rd, 2024, after which a $50 late fee will be assessed. Registration closes on January 7th, 2024, at 5PM.
WHEN: Participants in the training will meet for 7 days for a total of 40 hours over the course of 3 weeks. Schedule is as follows…
DAY 1: WEDNESDAY, January 17th (8 hrs.)-9:00AM-5:00PM
DAY 2: FRIDAY, January 19th (4 hrs.)-9:00AM-1:00PM
DAY 3: MONDAY, January 22nd (4 hrs. 15 min.)-12:45PM-5:00PM
DAY 4: WEDNESDAY, January 24th (6 hrs. + 2hrs. for homework)- 9:00AM–3:00PM
DAY 5: FRIDAY, January 26th (3 hrs. 15 min.)-1:45PM-5:00PM
DAY 6: MONDAY, January 29th (4 hrs. 30 min.)- 9:00AM-1:30PM
DAY 7: WEDNESDAY, January 31st (8 hrs.)- 9:00AM-5:00PM
WHERE: Training will take place via Zoom. Once you have registered, you will receive access to the Zoom links respective to each training session.
WHY: Domestic violence continues to be the most frequent violent crime in Marin. We need our community to help solve this problem and end the crime. You can be an active part of the solution!
