To better reflect the wide range of our current and future work, in October 2010 we adopted a new name – Center for Domestic Peace – where MAWS continues to find its home.

For more than three decades MAWS has served thousands of women, men, and children seeking support to end domestic violence. As we learned more about the growing problem of domestic violence and the corresponding need for services, education, and prevention, we expanded to include strategies to promote more community involvement for solving the problem, and to reach new and diverse audiences, such as men and boys, youth and teens, and non-English speakers.

We have grown into an organization that also serves the broader community, such as law enforcement, educators, health professionals, employers, and the legal and faith-based communities.

The evolution of our work helped to define the need for a comprehensive identity that better reflects our current and future efforts and the breadth of issues, solutions, and constituents we address.

Although our name has changed to Center for Domestic Peace, our work continues, in Marin and beyond.

Our emergency shelter, 24/7 hotlines, long-term transitional housing, support groups, and advocacy will continue as the core services provided by Center for Domestic Peace.

Our longstanding men’s program and hotline, which help men learn to stop their violence, will continue to be known under the name ManKind.

We will continue to operate Transforming Communities: Technical Assistance, Training, and Resource Center (TC-TAT) to build the capacity of individuals and organizations to engage in prevention and social transformation.
