In This Together – Family Therapy Program

Through our “In This Together” (ITT) program, children and their non-abusing parents participate in group therapy intended to heal the family bonds that are often broken in domestic violence situations. Families meet with clinical therapists in a group setting to explore, discover, heal, and thrive using art therapy, creative play, singing, talking, and much more.

“Thursdays are the best day of the week for me and my children. We so look forward to this special time, where we can talk and explore our feelings in a safe, and compassionate environment. Sammy is doing so much better in school too!!”

TIPS FOR PARENTS:

You as a parent may have left an abusive relationship or you may still be in one. One of the most important factors that help children do well after experiencing domestic violence is a strong relationship with a caring, nonviolent parent.  Your support can make the difference between fear and security, and can provide a foundation for a healthier future.

As a caring parent, you can promote your children’s recovery by connecting to Center for Domestic Peace, (or taking similar steps to increase safety in the family) –  helping your kids develop relationships with other supportive adults and encouraging them in school or other activities that make them feel happy and proud.

If you feel unsafe now and need help for yourself, your family or someone else in a domestic crisis call:

  1. 911
  2. C4DP English/Spanish hotline (415) 924-6616
  3. The National DV Hotline (1-800-799-7233)
  4. Children and Family Services (415) 473-2200.
